Capital One JA Finance Park
From Monday, November 10th, through Friday, November 21st, all St. John the Baptist Parish Public School District’s eighth graders will be participating in Capital One Junior Achievement Finance Park, a unique financial education program. This one-day simulation is one of the concluding activities of the Finance Park curriculum, which encompasses important elements of financial literacy.
While at Finance Park, each student will be given a life situation card with a yearly gross salary, marital status, and number and age of their children. It will be their responsibility to make good budget choices when choosing their household expenses with their given income.
We need several volunteers to assist us during the simulation, and we would like you to consider assisting us in Finance Park as a volunteer. The role of the volunteer will be to provide guidance to the students as they work through their budget. Volunteers who participate in Finance Park must also participate in a one-hour training session the morning of the event. This training will provide volunteers with the opportunity to understand the curriculum, schedule and procedures. (NOTE: You do not have to be a financial expert; volunteers will be provided ‘cheat sheets’ containing all of the answers!)Capital One JA Finance ParkDate and Time
